Enabler
Sam finds real satisfaction in helping others grow.
As an Enabler, she is naturally tuned in to what people are capable of — even before they fully see it themselves. Rather than stepping in to take over, she looks for ways to stretch people, offering support while giving them space to figure things out on their own.
Early in her career, it often felt easier to jump in and do things herself. It was quicker and more efficient. But she began to notice that when she stepped back, something important shifted. People grew. They gained confidence. And they often exceeded expectations.
She shared a moment working with a colleague who was managing a group of interns. Instead of stepping in to guide everything herself, Sam encouraged her colleague to take the lead and give the interns more ownership. With that support, the colleague created space for the interns to step up, think for themselves, and grow into their roles. What started as uncertainty quickly turned into confidence — at every level.
That experience reflects how Sam uses her Enabler strength today. She is thoughtful about when to step in and when to step back, engaging with people rather than directing them. She talks with them, not at them, and reminds them that it’s their show.
Her advice is to resist the urge to do everything yourself. When you give people the chance to try, even if it takes a little longer, the impact is far greater.
For Sam, being an Enabler is about helping others discover what they are capable of — and trusting them to rise to it.
“When you step back and let someone try, you can see their confidence start to build.”
